On the night of the 25th of November 1741 Elizabeth seized power with the help of the Preobrazhensky Regiment. She was the Empress of Russia from 1741 until her death. Her domestic policies allowed the nobles to gain dominance in local government, while shortening their terms of service to the state. She encouraged Mikhail Lomonosov's establishment of the University of Moscow and Ivan Shuvalov's foundation of the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. On the eve of her death, Russia spanned almost 16 million square km. She remains one of the most popular Russian monarchs.
Reign: 6. December 1741 – 5. January 1762
Coronation: 6. March 1742
Predecessor: Ivan VI
Successor: Peter III
The coin depicts Elisabeth I . The character offsets itself from the finely engraved background, due to the applied color. Also, the coin is embellished with 24k gold-plating and two red crystals. The name of the Emperor, as well as the number of the coin, is punched into the edge of the coin.
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is surrounded by beautiful ornaments, which give the coin a very special touch.
The coin comes inside an elegant and rich wooden box, which is made from parts of real Karelian Birch. It is in a beautiful case, which is doing a great job in staging this remarkable coin. The Certificate of Authenticity (matching the number of the coin) is displayed on the inner packaging.
